Putting Patients in the Driver’s Seat of Their Health Again

The American medical system has grown increasingly difficult to navigate and understand, which puts patients seeking affordable and high-quality healthcare at a disadvantage. For too long, our nation’s leaders have failed to meaningfully address the escalating crisis at Americans’ expense. Thankfully, President Trump’s administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to remedying the healthcare landscape with executive orders and plans aimed at putting patients first and monitoring the costs billed by healthcare providers.

To that end, AMAC (Association of Mature American Citizens) recently reported on President Trump’s recently unveiled “Great Healthcare Plan,” which aims to quell rising insurance premiums and redirect assistance to individuals rather than large insurance companies and medical corporations.

This step is critical for ensuring that Americans are in the drivers’ seat of their healthcare, with better options to choose from, and simultaneously ensures stronger competition among medical providers and insurers who would have to increase their standards and potentially decrease costs to prove they are the best, most affordable option for American consumers.

President Trump’s plan also seeks to make the U.S. healthcare system less confusing, so the average American can navigate it without legal help or unnecessary difficulty. The goal is to reduce barriers that prevent patients from fully understanding their care options.

Through clear, up-front pricing, patients would be able to understand what they are paying for before receiving care. This approach allows individuals to negotiate pricing, compare plans, and select the insurer or medical specialist that best fits their budget and healthcare needs.

This type of transparency—essential to promoting the health of American patients and families—is central to Solidarity HealthShare’s mission. Solidarity is not traditional health insurance and provides Members with clarity and transparency regarding their medical costs.
