Chemical Abortion Pill Mifepristone Faces New Congressional Challenge

Just recently, Senator Josh Hawley announced the introduction of a new bill – The Safeguarding Women from Chemical Abortion Act – that seeks to revoke the FDA’s approval of the dangerous chemical abortion drug, mifepristone. This move comes amidst ongoing contention and litigation surrounding mifepristone – pro-life advocates continue awaiting the FDA’s promised review of the drug, which sources claim they are “slow-walking,” as well as ongoing litigation against the FDA and the pill brought by state Attorneys Generals in Louisiana and Texas.

Hawley’s bill “builds upon proposed legislation Hawley introduced last year that would ban mifepristone and allow women to sue manufacturers profiting off of what the lawmaker deems an ‘inherently dangerous’ drug.”

Solidarity HealthShare applauds Sen. Hawley’s move to restore commonsense and pro-life protections to American healthcare. Mifepristone is not only lethal to children in the womb, but also incredibly harmful for women. We are committed to offering Americans an alternative to such “healthcare” by providing a community and health insurance model which holds true to the moral guidelines of the Catholic Church.
