American hospitals are doing away with child mutilation. Just recently, 21 hospitals have temporarily or permanently stopped providing gender transition procedures and hormones to minors.
Four hospitals announced they are no longer providing transition related surgeries for minors. One hospital stated it discontinued ‘gender affirming care for minors.’ In similar fashion, four have temporarily stopped ‘transgender care’ for minors and five have removed webpages that focused on that type of care for minors.
This positive development for the future of healthcare came after President Trump issued a January Executive Order to limit harmful and dangerous gender transitions for minors across the nation.
Although some states permit ‘gender affirming care,’ the federal rule limiting these dangerous drugs and procedures overrides many state laws. In fact, many hospitals have been threatened with civil or criminal penalties and have been told that they will be denied federal funding if they continue to perform dangerous, body-altering procedures on minors.
Attempting to change a person’s God-given gender is nothing short of a human rights violation. Last year, the Vatican stated that the current ideology surrounding gender transitions “intends to deny the greatest possible difference that exists between living beings: sexual difference.” The document noted that “all attempts to obscure reference to the interminable sexual difference between man and woman are to be rejected.”
There is much evidence to suggest that these surgeries are dangerous to young children, and many states are doing the right thing by following the Executive Order banning them.
Solidarity HealthShare, meanwhile, is committed to quality and ethical healthcare that acknowledges the dignity of human life and partners with hospitals and clinics that affirm each person’s God-given gender. Our Members do not share into expenses for non-congenital transsexualism, gender dysphoria, or sexual reassignment or change, including medications, implants, hormone therapy, surgery, or medical or psychiatric treatment care.
We are pleased to see that more hospitals are falling in line with the President’s directive and are thus protecting the humanity of young children.
