Insurance Costs to Spike
American employers are raising the alarm over what could be a drastic increase in health insurance costs in 2025. Experts are expecting insurance costs to spike an average of 5.8% in the coming year. This is due in part to increases in the cost of medical services, higher insurance usage, and an ongoing shortage of healthcare workers.
The expected increase would mark the third consecutive year in which healthcare costs for employers rose by more than 5%. More than half of employers are bracing themselves for impact by planning to implement cost-management changes next year. They are finding ways to reduce the use of health insurance plans by members with expensive conditions. They are trying to manage specialty drug costs. These sorts of steps are becoming necessary to contain costs. If they aren’t done, companies with workforces between 50 and 499 employees could see the cost of insurance coverage for their employees increase 9%.
There are Options
Help is available for employers feeling the stretch! Healthcare sharing ministries like Solidarity HealthShare offer affordable alternatives to businesses and individuals. On average, a Solidarity Membership is 6% more affordable than other healthcare sharing ministries, which is only a small advantage. But when compared to traditional health insurance costs, that advantage expands to 60% more affordable. For employers facing drastic cost increases, this should be welcome news. Those who join our community of like-minded Members even have their medical bills negotiated on their behalf by Solidarity staff who are trained to identify billing mistakes and overcharges from medical providers.
Families can rest assured that they will be able to afford expensive or unexpected procedures with Solidarity. Our sharing program is designed to facilitate direct Member-to-Member sharing to pay each others’ medical needs.
