Mental Health Sharing is Vital

Mental health conditions are some of the most common health conditions affecting Americans, especially younger Americans. In the United States, one out of every five adults experience mental illness each year. It’s for this very reason that Solidarity HealthShare has such a focus on mental health sharing. These conditions include anxiety, eating disorders, and depression, to name just a few. They can affect anyone, and Solidarity is committed to protecting our Members’ mental health. This commitment is something that sets us apart from other ministries that often limit their sharing for mental health and wellness costs.

Mental health and counseling services can also be provided via telehealth. These services are eligible for sharing with a Solidarity Membership, whether or not the provider has seen the patient before in person. A great resource for our Members to access telecounseling services is Catholic Counselors. Whether you want to create a more intimate and godly marriage, celebrate a more faithful and fulfilling family life, or discover the path to a more grace-filled personal life, the Catholic Counselors at Pastoral Solutions Institute can help strengthen and support you on your spiritual and emotional journey.

Other Ways Solidarity Supports Good Mental Health

People who struggle with mental health disorders often experience debilitating symptoms like uneasiness, constant sadness or even body dysmorphia. These afflictions can often lead to physical symptoms as well. Family genetics and the environment in which people are raised can make them more prone to mental health conditions down the road. But it is possible to reduce the effects of mental conditions with a few healthy habits. Practices such as balancing hormones, taking magnesium supplements, exercise and prayer can make a huge difference in your mental health.

“One of my habits that I personally practice is gratitude. This is a practice of writing or reflecting on the things you are grateful for. When we practice gratitude, we do not regret the past or fear the future, we become free to live in God’s plan in the present moment. Let us begin.”

– Solidarity Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Oertle, NMD

With that in mind, Solidarity has given Members access to a premium subscription for the Hallow App. Hallow is the #1 Catholic prayer app, and the discounted price available to Solidarity Members can help strengthen their personal prayer and meditation practices.
