In just a few weeks, leading Catholic figures from across America will gather in Washington, D.C., to pray for the future of the nation at the 21st annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast (NCPB).
The NCPB annually gathers to reflect on the challenges of the nation and pray for success in addressing them. This year, it’s critical that Catholic leaders recognize the severity of America’s broken healthcare system, which requires immediate attention and oversight.
Solidarity HealthShare prays that our elected leaders and policy makers will act quickly to promote laws and policies offering Americans better access to life-affirming healthcare, and will fight to dismantle systems, organizations and individuals that counter this noble goal. It is also our hope that the Catholic Church steps up to act as a leader in this fight, especially by advocating for price transparency, which would ensure that low-income Americans can receive the care that they deserve without going into medical debt.
Our current healthcare system ignores the blessings of life while slamming working families and the elderly with needlessly high costs for medicines and medical treatments. Skyrocketing insurance premiums, out-of-pocket costs for hospital visits, and prices for prescription drugs place an undue burden on most Americans who simply wish to live in good health without going into medical debt.
Solidarity HealthShare serves people at all levels of income by offering them access to comprehensive, affordable, healthcare that is fair, transparent in its pricing, and proudly pro-life. We hope the organizers and the attendees of the National Catholic Prayer breakfast dedicate time to advocate for healthcare policies that cherish the sanctity of life in our great nation.
