For millions of Americans, the cost of health care is no longer an abstract policy debate – it is a daily source of anxiety. A new survey from West Health and Gallup found that nearly half of U.S. adults worry they will not be able to afford the care they need in the coming year – the highest level of concern recorded since the organizations began tracking the issue in 2021.
As premiums continue to rise and deductibles grow larger, families are increasingly forced to delay medical visits or forgo care altogether. Even routine check-ups and prescriptions can become financial stress points, especially for households already living paycheck to paycheck. As healthcare costs consume a greater share of family budgets, affordability has become one of the defining challenges facing Americans today.
Washington’s response has largely focused on temporary fixes. Lawmakers are debating whether to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies or expand government price controls. But these measures do little to address the deeper problem: a system that has become overly complex, expensive, and disconnected from the real needs of patients.
At Solidarity HealthShare, we believe families deserve a better option through our health sharing program.
Health sharing offers an alternative to traditional insurance that puts people first. Instead of navigating confusing plans and unpredictable costs, our Members participate in a community built on transparency, shared responsibility, and trust. They are able to significantly lower their health care expenses while still accessing quality care from doctors they know and trust.
In addition to our commitment to healthcare transparency, Solidarity HealthShare is also committed to respecting human dignity and conscience. Our Members never pay for procedures that conflict with their deeply-held beliefs. We believe that health care should heal, not divide families from their values or leave them feeling trapped in a one-size-fits-all system.
The growing concern reflected in this survey shows that Americans are ready for change. More and more people realize that they do not have to accept rising costs and shrinking choices as inevitable. Health sharing is gaining momentum because it offers something the current system does not: clarity, affordability, and peace of mind.
