In a win for women’s healthcare and human life, 33 Planned Parenthood facilities across the nation have announced their closures in recent weeks. Six have closed in California, four in Michigan, and three in Texas, just to name a few.
While Planned Parenthood has been closing doors for a number of years, the recent passing of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” has sped up that process, as it prohibits Planned Parenthood from receiving federal taxpayer dollars for an entire year. Currently, Planned Parenthood receives around 500 million dollars from the federal government, accounting for 25 percent of its revenue. With 25 percent less funding in their pockets, many of these facilities have to close their doors.
Contrary to common claims, these closures come not a moment too soon. Far from being a source of healthcare service, Planned Parenthoods have for decades been inflicting unnecessary harm on women, children and their families due to poor management and inadequate medical oversight. As The New York Times reported back in February, many Planned Parenthood patients “report failed abortions, misplaced IUDs and inadequately trained staff.”
Harming women and children cannot be called ‘healthcare.’ To give women ethical and holistic alternatives, Solidarity HealthShare shares into hundreds of facilities and resources that provide true, high quality healthcare, promote whole and true healing, and uphold a woman’s dignity while helping her best care for her unborn child.
Methods such as Natural Family Planning and NaProTECHNOLOGY, for example, allow women to experience restorative care, science backed treatments, and medical support for both themselves and their child.
While Planned Parenthood clinics close across the country, we hope that women will turn to true resources and quality healthcare that never sacrifices their health or their child’s life.
