Member Stories: How Solidarity’s Sharing Community is Supporting Marcelo Gonzalez as He Recovers from a Stroke

Solidarity’s Sharing Community Helped Marcelo Recover From a Stroke

Marcelo Gonzalez and his mother Monica Glenn share the story of Marcelo’s stroke. Their family had been totally healthy for years, and they never needed to use their Membership. Until one day Marcelo’s vision started swimming and he had trouble walking and controlling his body. After he went to the hospital, he found out that he had had a stroke, and his road to recovery began. Solidarity’s sharing community stepped up to support them in that difficult journey.

“I remember calling Solidarity in the hospital and I told them, ‘This has been so stressful for me please help me out, I don’t know what to do.’ And they told me don’t worry about it, we will take care of you. And really, we’ve been so blessed with Solidarity because they’re done way more than we could have expected.”

– Monica Glenn on working with Solidarity to make sure Marcelo got the care he needed

Monica details the support that she, Marcelo, and their whole family received from the team at Solidarity HealthShare. They consider the help that their community extended to them to be a miracle, and are so grateful for everyone who contributed to Marcelo’s care. Marcelo Gonzalez and his mother Monica share how Solidarity’s sharing community supported the every step of the way through Marcelo’s stroke and recovery.

“I hope everyone knows we see [all the Members’ sharing] as miracles. Every time a need gets approved it is a miracle for us.”

Marcelo’s story is a great reminder of what our sharing community can do when we band together to support each other in our toughest times. We will continue praying for Marcelo’s recovery journey, and ask that you do the same!

“Solidarity, family, therapists, doctors have been great, we’ve been having so much support, and I felt, really God there. Because He’s been with us through all this process, and helping a lot.

– Monica Glenn

Solidarity HealthShare is a non-profit healthcare sharing ministry rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church. Established in 2016, we operate on the Catholic principles of solidarity and subsidiarity, in accordance with the Church’s commitment to promoting life-affirming, ethical healthcare.

We strive to provide an ethical, community-driven alternative to traditional health insurance. Through direct Member-to-Member sharing, Members are able to access quality healthcare services while preserving their family’s financial, physical, and spiritual health, all at once. Members never need to worry about their healthcare dollars funding immoral medical procedures. We promote a holistic approach to healthcare, emphasizing the importance of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

At the heart of our ministry’s mission to restore and rebuild an authentically Catholic healthcare culture in America is the recognition that every single person has inherent human dignity. We seek to promote healthcare that honors the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.
