Employees face a historic premium cost increase in 2025

The Largest Health Insurance Premium Cost Increase in Over a Decade is On The Way

Historic health insurance premium cost increase

Just when it seems that the health insurance premium cost couldn’t go higher, we are proven wrong. Enrollees in the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program are set to pay 13.5% more, on average, toward their health care premiums in 2025. That percentage jump will represent the largest health insurance premium cost increase in more than a decade.

According to Office of Personnel Management figures, the projected FEHB increase for 2025 comes on the heels of a 7.7% jump in 2024 and an 8.7% increase in 2023. In January 2025, FEHB enrollees will start to pay an average of $26.10 towards their biweekly health premiums.

What is causing this premium cost increase?

OPM officials say that “the premium increases are due to the impact of price increases by providers and suppliers, increased utilization of certain prescription drugs and behavioral health spending.”

Other plans, such as the new Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) plan, will only see their premiums increase by 11.1%. PSHB enrollees will only pay $20 more towards their biweekly health care premiums next year. This is $6.10 less than FEHB enrollees – but just enough to negatively affect families.

No matter what plan you intend to use in the future, now is the time to consider making changes. It is possible to avoid the health insurance premium cost increases . That might mean opting for a more affordable alternative, such as a healthcare sharing ministry.

Solidarity is offering a truly affordable option

Solidarity HealthShare is a healthcare sharing ministry that has provided high-quality, affordable, life-affirming health care to more than 46,000 Members since 2016. Members once struggled to find or afford treatments under their traditional insurance plans with a regularly increasing health insurance premium cost. But now they share their costs with fellow Solidarity community Members. This includes maternity care, hospice services, mental health counseling, wellness visits and much more. Overall, Solidarity Membership is 60% more affordable than a traditional health insurance policy.

The Solidarity team even negotiates bills on Members’ behalf. Especially when providers (routinely) overcharge for the care they provide.

From conception until natural death, Solidarity provides options that work with each family’s budget. Our Memberships start at just $85 for singles and $512 for Families. We firmly believe that healthcare costs shouldn’t hurt anyone’s ability to take care of their loved ones.
