Nineteen states and Washington, D.C., joined a lawsuit against RFK Jr. and the Department of Health and Human Services last month for restricting life-altering, irreversible gender transition surgeries and hormone therapies for children. The lawsuit was announced just a week after RFK Jr’s announcement that any providers offering children gender intervention hormones or surgeries would be blocked from receiving Medicare and Medicaid payments.
This lawsuit powerfully demonstrates the moral depravity raging in the medical industry today, which defies the Hippocratic Oath, common sense, and, too often, the consciences of those involved. From 2019 to 2023 alone, nearly 14k children received sex change related treatments at hospitals across America – including nearly 6k sex change operations – that totaled at least $119 million in profits.
These profits are a powerful indictment of the modern medical industry, which prioritizes the enrichment of medical providers and insurers over truly addressing the root causes of children’s gender dysphoria and helping them navigate it without making life-altering decisions years before they can even drive a car, vote, or drink.
It’s long past time to end healthcare policies that exploit American children and force American taxpayers to foot the bill. Exploiting young people’s gender confusion with unsafe and irreversible surgeries or other types of interventions is not something that people of faith can support, and they deserve the backing of healthcare providers that share their commonsense values. More than that, they deserve high quality healthcare options that are striving to address root causes of medical concerns, rather than profit-driven quick-fixes.
Thankfully, Solidarity HealthShare offers affordable, comprehensive and high-quality healthcare that holds true to the moral guidelines of the Catholic Church. Unlike most traditional healthcare providers, Solidarity ensures that no Members are ever forced to pay for medical services or procedures that contradict their beliefs or violate the dignity of the human person.
