Member Jeff Schiefelbein Shares His Family’s Solidarity Experience
When Jeff Schiefelbein and his family joined Solidarity HealthShare in January 2023, they were looking for a healthcare solution that aligned with both their Catholic values and financial goals. Jeff had just launched his new firm, Undivided Life, and the family wanted peace of mind knowing they were part of a supportive healthcare ministry.
They never imagined how quickly they would come to rely on that decision. Just one day after their Membership began, Jeff’s son was hospitalized. Two weeks later, he was back in the hospital again. While daunting, these early experiences gave Jeff a firsthand glimpse of Solidarity’s mission in action—faithful support, compassionate care, and practical help when his family needed it most. Jeff shared this experience in a 2023 testimonial video.
Though that experience was a difficult one, the family persevered. However, the medical troubles were not over.
When Jeff’s 4-year-old son, Ambrose, accidentally hit his 3-year-old brother, Benny, with a golf club, the family rushed to the ER to check for a concussion. Instead, doctors discovered a rare and dangerous brain tumor. Overnight, their world turned upside down.
As Benny’s treatment began, the Schiefelbeins leaned heavily on Solidarity. And Solidarity responded with extraordinary care. From coordinating care to sharing costs and offering prayerful encouragement, Solidarity stood with Jeff and his family every step of the way.
“I remember reaching out to Solidarity and saying, ‘I feel completely lost in this...’ We had three different oncologists that we were working with. The hospital systems are confusing. What they’re demanding of you at different times is confusing. And every time I raised my hand, made the phone call, and asked for help, it was the dream team at Solidarity making sure that Benny was being taking care of.”

“I felt like I had a teammate who was on the inside instead of ‘Good luck to you [as you] figure a way out through this…’ There are so many miracles in all of this and I think one of the miracles is getting to be part of a community that shares our faith and shares in the cost and the pain and the joy of what we’ve been through.”

For the Schiefelbeins, and thousands of other families, Solidarity HealthShare makes healthcare ethical, affordable, and truly comprehensive, standing alongside Members through life’s most challenging medical events.

Solidarity HealthShare is a non-profit healthcare sharing ministry rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church. Established in 2016, we operate on the Catholic principles of solidarity and subsidiarity, in accordance with the Church’s commitment to promoting life-affirming, ethical healthcare.
We strive to provide an ethical, community-driven alternative to traditional health insurance. Through direct Member-to-Member sharing, Members are able to access quality healthcare services while preserving their family’s financial, physical, and spiritual health, all at once. Members never need to worry about their healthcare dollars funding immoral medical procedures. We promote a holistic approach to healthcare, emphasizing the importance of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
At the heart of our ministry’s mission to restore and rebuild an authentically Catholic healthcare culture in America is the recognition that every single person has inherent human dignity. We seek to promote healthcare that honors the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.
