A nationwide lack of healthcare price transparency is burdening many American patients and families who may feel pressure to avoid necessary care due to unexpected or excessive costs. Thankfully, the Trump Administration has been hard at work to deliver on its commitment to make healthcare prices transparent again, and other national organizations and leaders are following suit.
The National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL), for example, recently adopted legislation geared at promoting greater healthcare price transparency: the Hospital Price Transparency Act and the Hospital Community Benefit and Charity Care Requirements Act. Both pieces of legislation seek to promote accountability for medical organizations, providers and insurers that undermine healthcare price transparency, putting healthcare patients back in the drivers’ seat of their own wellbeing and care.
If adopted, both measures will also promote greater competition among healthcare providers that ultimately benefits American consumers and the quality of national healthcare in general. For these reasons, Solidarity HealthShare proudly supports the NACL’s efforts to make healthcare more transparent and prioritize patients.
Transparency is core to our mission, and our nontraditional health sharing ministry enables us to offer Members transparent information about their healthcare costs while working together to find comprehensible, affordable care.
