Obamacare Continues to Force More Americans to Choose Between Their Healthcare and Their Conscience in 2019
23% MORE ACA plans to cover abortion in 2019, pro-life Americans now have a choice in a non-insurance option, healthcare sharing
TEMPE, AZ – November 27, 2018 – Two pro-life research organizations say their fifth annual review of elective abortion coverage under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) shows an alarming increase in taxpayer-funded abortions in Obamacare-compliant plans. The number of states that allow abortion coverage in 2019 has risen by 23% over 2018 levels. Other findings include:
- Of all individual and family exchange plans in the 24 states (and Washington, D.C.) that allow abortion coverage, 65% (650 plans) cover elective abortion — up from 53% in 2018.
- In eight states and Washington, D.C., 100% of ACA plans cover elective abortion. There is no pro-life option.
- In 2018, an estimated 2.2 million people in states that allow abortion coverage are receiving $11.2 billion in tax credits for abortion-providing plans.
“We are grateful to the Family Research Council and the Charlotte Lozier Institute for staying vigilant (Obama Care Abortion Study) and raising awareness of the ever-increasing threats to life and conscience rights under Obamacare. “The lack of transparency remains the biggest problem for health insurance customers under Obamacare,” said Solidarity HealthShare CEO, Brad Hahn. “It hides how plans report abortion coverage, forcing many families to pay indirectly for others’ abortions. People need to know that there is a much more ethical and affordable health care option available in all 50 states with Solidarity HealthShare.”
